What is Coaching?

The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

Coaches recognize that every client is the expert of her or his life, while the coaches are experts of the process. A coach also works and believes every client is creative, resourceful and whole.

​

So why does anyone need coaching?

Isn't that what friends are for? While friends can help with some issues, with other issues a professional and non-jugdemental approach may be needed. Where strong emotions, deep-seated fears, or long-established behaviors are involved, the open-minded, rational, and positive approach of a  coach makes a real difference in helping with the challenge.

How is Coaching different from Therapy, Mentoring or Training?

  • Therapy focusses more on healing the past for your present. Coaching is more about achieving your future goals, it is where you are now and where you want to be.

 

  • In mentoring, the mentor will guide you and advise you based on his experiences and learnings in similar scenarios. He will share his wisdom and insight telling you what to do.​

 

  • Training is transferring your knowledge or learning with the trainer overseeing the interaction with the trainee. It has almost nothing to do with the trainee as an individual.

A coach unlike the others above partners with the client in making them aware of the issues they are facing.  They help you create awareness, set goals, and plan actions while developing a confidential, supportive, and trusting environment. They also support you in the entire journey.

What happens during your Coaching session?

Coaching is a process which is in complete partnership with You, the coachee.

​

I take a holistic approach to create a safe space for us to co-create our learning journey. With my coaching tools, techniques and methodology, I foster shifts in thinking that reveal fresh perspectives.

 

I follow a process of enquiry. I will ask powerful questions that help you be aware of your actions, take responsibility towards them  and help in achieving your goals. I will listen to you without judgement and provide objective assessments and observations. I will also challenge your blind spots. I will not be giving you cookie-cutter solutions because what may work for me and others, may not work for you, we are all different individuals. Rather, together in this journey, we will discover what works best for you. With this new insight, we will figure how to move forward, explore potential barriers and transform the insight into action.

 

I approach my coaching work from the heart and support my coachees in connecting to that place in themselves.

How do we connect?

Thank you for your interest. Coaching as we know is a partnership between You the coachee and me the Coach. The coachee’s readiness and desire to be in this journey are vital to creating more possibilities and reaching the desired outcome. 

 

We call this readiness being coachable. Someone who is coachable is open to seeing other perspectives without being threatened.
